Austinites are lucky. Right in our backyard is one of the country’s best wine regions. From Fredericksburg, to Marble Falls, award-winning wineries are tucked into the scenic hills, just a daytrip away.
Winery tours are perfect for a birthday party, bachelorette celebration, or a get-away for you and your closest friends. A day spent wine tasting and touring beautiful vineyards is relaxing and loads of fun. Of course, you can hop on one of the many bus tours in the region, with their pre-selected itineraries, or you could drive yourself.
Yet, a better option is hiring a limo for your wine tour. A limo trip allows you and your group to enjoy the region’s best vineyards in the comfort of a luxury limousine. R&R Limo & Bus provides limo service for Hill Country wine tours. Whether you’d like to create your own tour, or you’d like some advice about routing, we’re happy to help you plan a memorable limo wine tour.
Austin’s Beautiful Wine Trails
Just a short drive from Austin, you’ll find numerous so-called “wine trails.” A wine trail is essentially a pre-determined route in the countryside with numerous wineries along the way, and in Austin there are dozens to choose.
A great place to start planning is the Texas Wine Trail map, which highlights all the great wineries within a short drive of Austin, as well as events and sights to see along the way. You might also choose a specific route to follow for the afternoon. Some of the best include:
- Dripping Wine Trail – Located just 35 minutes from downtown Austin, Dripping Springs is picturesque town with plenty of wine-tasting nearby. That makes this trail the perfect escape from the city. Featuring three award-winning vineyards, the Dripping Springs trail whisks you away to the countryside and is perfect for a long, meandering afternoon trip.
- Driftwood Wine Trail – Driftwood is another nearby town that features a vibrant wine-making industry. The town is just about a half hour from downtown Austin, and is home to six great wineries, including Salt Lick Cellars, Duchman Family Winery and Driftwood Estate Winery. Commonly people combine this route with stops on the Dripping Springs trail for a full day of wine-tasting.
- Wine Road 290 – This trail is a longer drive from Austin, but it’s well-worth the trek. Featuring 16 wineries in the picturesque towns of Johnson City, Stonewall and Fredericksburg, this route is a favorite of Hill Country travelers. Here you’ll find dozens of great vineyards, including Becker Vineyards, Chisholm Trail Winery, and Last Draw Cellars.
- Marble Falls Trail – Although an unofficial “trail,” the hills around Marble Falls offer a number of award-winning spots to check out. From Colorado River wineries near Spicewood, to Inks Lake State Park (home to Perissos Vineyards & Winery), the Marble Falls trail is a perfect daytrip excursion from Austin.
Private Design-Your-Own Tours
Pre-planned wine tours are certainly fun, but they don’t offer the flexibility of a plan-your-own adventure. When you take a limo wine tour, you choose all of your favorite spots and stops along the way.
Want to add a few art galleries to your itinerary? You can do that. Want to include a picnic on the shores of Lake Travis? Your driver will be happy to accommodate you. In other words, you have complete control over where to go, how long to spend at each location, and any unexpected stops along the way.
Plus, you can choose from a wide variety of vehicles. A limousine is great for smaller, intimate groups of about 10. Yet, there are more budget friendly options or options for larger groups as well, including:
Bottom line, R&R Limo & Bus offers a full fleet of vehicles to choose and we’re happy to help you create a personalized itinerary for your trip.
